Job summary

Henry Ford Rochester Hospital in Rochester, MI is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for a full-time night shift (3pm-3:30am, 36 hours/week with every third weekend and holiday rotation). This role supports RNs and physicians, prepares patients for examinations, records vital signs, rounds on patients, and assists with ED procedures.

Education required includes EMT certification or nursing clinical semesters, or CNA with experience.

Qualifications

EMT certification or nursing clinical training is required.
Basic ED procedures experience is preferred.
Experience with venipuncture, EKGs, catheterization is advantageous.
CNA with 1-2 years of ED experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examination with RN and physician.
Take and record vital signs in the EMR every 2 hours or as directed.
Observe and report patient condition to RN.
Round on patients every 30 minutes or as directed by RN.
Assist with procedures: throat cultures, oxygen therapy, enemas, dressings, urinary catheters, IVs, EKG, labs, blood cultures.
Record procedures and interventions in FirstNet EMR.
Maintain supplies, sterile fields, and transportation of patients.
