Job summary

Henry Ford Health - Careers is seeking an Emergency Room Technical Assistant for the Brownstown area. This full‑time position (36 hours/week) runs midnight shift, every other weekend and holiday. You will assist with patient assessments, tests, and procedures in a dynamic ED setting, under supervision, delivering timely, compassionate care.

The role offers hands‑on experience while supporting patients in urgent need and helping maintain smooth operations in a busy unit.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
BCLS Certification required.
Previous experience in an Emergency Department or acute care setting is a strong plus.
One of the following is required at time of hire: Basic EMT certification.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant, nursing, or MD program.
One year of Emergency Room Technical experience.
EMT license preferred.
Must complete a 180‑day orientation program.

Responsibilities

Assist with patient assessments, exams and treatments.
Perform clinical tasks: drawing blood, collecting specimens, performing EKGs, applying splints, taking vital signs.
Inserting NG tubes and urethral catheters; starting/discontinuing IVs as applicable.
Prepare and assist with procedures such as suturing, casting, pelvic exams, lumbar punctures.
Recognize abnormal vitals or dysrhythmias and alert RN/Provider.
Provide patient and family support with professionalism and empathy.
Maintain equipment and clean rooms between patients; ensure safety and infection control.
