Job summary

Banner Health Emergency Verrado in Buckeye, AZ, is opening a new freestanding emergency department in November 2026. The Security Officer position helps protect patients, visitors and staff, patrols facilities, and responds to alarms and incidents to maintain a secure environment.

You will work alongside medical staff, coordinate with emergency responders, monitor access and alarms, and support safety programs.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
• Must demonstrate the ability to write comprehensive security reports.
• Must successfully complete Banner Health Basic Officer Academy.
• Must maintain required security certifications.

Responsibilities

• Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented in all contacts with patients, visitors and staff.
• Responds to emergency codes; patrols facility; enforces parking regulations and traffic control; assists staff with security matters.
• Assists staff with restraining and handling troubled/combative patients; ensures security policies are followed; patrols unoccupied areas and manages alarms.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; performs citizen arrests when needed.
• Utilizes assigned non-lethal weapons according to policy and training.
• Investigates and completes written reports of complaints and incidents; maintains security logs.
• Professionally testifies in criminal court, state hearings and review boards when required.
• May assist in maintenance of confidential health documents and scanning into electronic systems.
