Job summary

Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center in Newton, NJ is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support physicians and nurses by meeting patients' basic clinical and personal care needs under RN supervision. You will perform direct patient care, assist with procedures, and observe changes to promote safe, compassionate care.

This role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to stand/walk for extended periods, with opportunities for growth within a leading nonprofit health

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Ability to perform basic clinical skills such as vital signs, patient transfers, and ADLs.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
• Physical ability to assist with patient mobility and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight).
• Assist with mobility, transfers, ROM, and discharges.
• Perform post-mortem care according to established protocols.
• Conduct clinical tasks such as EKGs, Phlebotomy, and blood glucose monitoring.
• Observe patients for changes and report concerns to the RN promptly.
• Maintain, clean, and stock phlebotomy equipment and supplies.
• Support patient safety, comfort, and dignity at all times.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support unit operations.
