Job summary

Weeks Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Patient Care Technician to provide patient care within their scope of practice and support services to the ED team. The role includes direct patient care, EHR clerical tasks, and collaboration with RNs and ED physicians.

Licensure as AEMT/LPN/LNA in NH and BLS are required, with EMT experience preferred. The position requires strong interpersonal and time management skills, plus basic computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Current AEMT, LPN or LNA license in the State of New Hampshire.
• EMT experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
• Basic computer systems knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Complete required clinical competencies for a PCT.
• Demonstrate clinical competence and maintain standards of practice.
• Charge for supplies used and assist in auditing charges.
• Identify and report risk management situations; document properly.
• Perform phlebotomy after training; label specimens accurately.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs and document demographics.
• Assist physician with suture tray setup and sterile technique.
• Document all pertinent information in the patient chart.
• Transport patients between departments; ensure patient safety.
• Handle clerical tasks and processing of medical records; HIM coordination.
• Assist Radiology with X-ray processing when requested.
• Attend department meetings and participate in CQI activities.
