Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
• Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable.
• Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification.
• Referral to financial counseling and point of service collections.
• Ensure data entered into computer systems is accurate (demographics, benefits).
• Verify benefits eligibility and coordination of benefits; collect patient financial responsibility.
• Understand regulatory requirements (HIPAA, EMTALA, Medicare messages) and apply appropriately.
