Job summary

Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, ME is seeking a Nursing Support CNA for full-time night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The role supports direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision and also serves as unit receptionist, transcribes orders, maintains records, and orders unit supplies.

The compensation range listed is $21.00 to $26.64 per hour, with eligibility for a sign-on bonus. Exempt status is no.

Responsibilities

• Precepts and mentors new staff and students.
• Maintains positive working relationships with all members of the health care team.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate pertinent data to the supervisor, nursing staff and medical provider efficiently and effectively.
• Integrates skills taught in classes: People Based Patient Safety, Crucial Conversations, AIDET, Managing violent patients.
• Represents the unit in alignment with hospital mission and values.
• Responds appropriately to emergency situations (fire, code blue, code gray, Plan Triage).
• Transcribes orders accurately and prioritizes by patient need.
• Maintains unit supplies and ensures proper stocking and organization.
• Assembles and verifies MS charts for completeness.
• Files test results and data on patient charts accurately.
• Maintains patient logbook and daily census accurately.
• Retrieves and collects data as requested.
• Uses telephone etiquette in communications and relays messages appropriately.
• Enters patient information and orders with accuracy.
• Notifies nurse/provider for patient calls.
• Notifies affected departments of errors.
• Records I&O, Vital signs, and glucometer results accurately.
• Performs ADL care to preserve patient independence.
• Cleans and maintains patient environment for safety and recovery.
• Assists ambulation, wheelchair or stretcher transfers with proper technique.
• Monitors patient condition and reports to RN.
• Conducts bedside shift reporting with patient, family, and oncoming shift.
• Performs CNA tasks per hospital policy.
• Documents care in the EMR accurately.
• Answers patient call bell promptly.
• Contributes to unit quality improvement and improvement measures.
• Identifies quality/safety issues and works with leadership to resolve.
• Allocates staff and patient rooms using Vocera for nurse call.
• Schedules outpatients in Outlook.
• Scans patient charges into CPSI.
