Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Emergency Department in League City (7P-7A). The role supports daily operations on the patient care unit, performing clerical tasks, patient/guest interactions, record keeping, and coordination with the hospital information system.

The candidate will have completed an accredited Unit Coordinator/Clerk program or have related one-year coursework or experience, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Unit Coordinator/Clerk program, or one-year related job experience/college course work.
• BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support to the health-care team on the ED unit.
• Greet patients and guests and maintain professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain medical records and census data with accuracy and timeliness.
• Operate the hospital information system and coordinate messages.
• Assist with patient room preparation and transportation as needed.
• Maintain unit equipment and supplies inventory.
• Support patient confidentiality and safety, and participate in continuous quality improvement.
