Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a part-time Health Unit Coordinator for the ED Galveston, 7A-7P, 24 hours per week. The role focuses on clerical support, patient and family interaction, and ensuring accurate medical records and unit operations.

The position requires completion of an accredited Unit Coordinator/Clerk program or one year of related experience, plus a BLS certification. Strong communication, organization, and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Unit Coordinator/Clerk program, or one-year related job experience/college course work.
• BLS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, guests, and staff courteously and direct calls and messages to the appropriate departments.
• Maintain medical records and logs, ensure accurate indexing and timely updates in the hospital information system.
• Perform receptionist/secretary tasks and support daily unit operations as outlined by UTMB policies.
