Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston seeks a part-time Health Unit Coordinator for the ED, 7 PM - 7 AM, 24 hours per week. This role provides clerical support to the care team and helps maintain unit operations.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, coordinating communications, managing medical records, entering information into the hospital system, and assisting with routine tasks to ensure patient flow and safety.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Unit Coordinator/Clerk program, or one-year related job experience/college coursework.
• BLS certification is required.
• Proficient typing, spelling, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, guests, and staff in a courteous manner.
• Directs calls and messages to appropriate individuals or departments.
• Uses the Hospital Information System to access and process clinical information.
• Maintains unit logs, records, and bulletin boards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Transcribes and processes information for patient units and hospital records.
• Ensures patient safety and supports daily unit operations.
