Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a nursing assistant to support nursing staff and assist in delivering patient care across hospital settings. Under RN supervision, you will respond to call lights, assist with mobility, hygiene, and daily activities while adhering to policies and standards.

You will collect data, obtain vital signs and lab specimens as needed, document findings, and report changes to the registered nurse.

Qualifications

• Recent patient care experience in acute care setting as nursing or medical assistant, EMT, or completion of a clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.
• BLS certification is preferred.
• Phlebotomy exposure or training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine patient care such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance.
• Collects, records, and reports various patient data.
• Obtains vital signs, blood glucose levels, bedside pregnancy testing, and reports changes in patient data to registered nurse.
• Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture or micro collection techniques, and assists nursing staff in collecting specimens from intra-vessel catheters.
