Job summary

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to assist RNs and physicians, maintain supplies, and support direct patient care in a fast-paced ED/UCC setting. Duties include taking vital signs, transporting specimens, and aiding with dressings and patient education.

Under supervision, you will ensure infection control, patient safety, and adherence to C-I-CARE standards while contributing to efficient patient flow and timely care delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of Emergency Room/Urgent Care Technician experience or work in an EMT-B, EMT-I or EMT-P related position required.
• Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
• EMT - Emergency Medical Tech required.

Responsibilities

• Provides care which ensures individualized, planned services to meet treatment goals in the ED/UCC system.
• Checks and documents vital signs and related measurements as directed.
• Performs simple dressing and maintains clean technique as ordered by physician.
• Obtains, labels and transports specimens (blood, urine, etc.) as assigned.
• Assists with patient calls, escalation to RN/Physician when intervention is needed.
• Supports infection control and identification of reportable cases.
• Removes soiled linens and maintains equipment handling and disposal.
• Attends meetings and participates in hospital committees as assigned.
• Provides patient education and discharge instructions under Physician/RN direction.
