Job summary

FirstHealth of the Carolinas is a nationally recognized health care system based in central North Carolina. The ER Technician provides direct and indirect patient care in the ER under supervision, maintaining patient flow and safety per established protocols.

Minimum qualification includes an associate degree and NC Paramedic certification, plus BLS/ACLS, with PALS or AEMT credentials as applicable. Certification and continuing education are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and at least one year of related experience or an equivalent combination.
• Current North Carolina EMS Paramedic certification/licensure is required.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• Current AHA Advanced Life Support (ACLS) is required.
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or NC Advanced EMT with BCLS, BTLS, PHTLS, and ACLS

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Room per FirstHealth protocols.
• Maintain safe and efficient patient flow under supervision of ER Charge Nurse and ER physician.
• Maintain required certifications and participate in continuing education and recertification.

As a member of the Emergency Medical Services team, the Emergency Room Technician provides direct and indirect patient care through protocols set by FirstHealth of Carolina to maintain safe and effective patient flow in the Emergency Room. The Emergency Room Technicians works under the supervision of the Emergency Room Charge Nurse and the medical direction of the ER Physician, and is accountable for providing care within established standards of practice. The ER Technician maintains required certifications and skills by participation in continuing education, practical skills testing, and the re-certification processes set by the state of North Carolina and FirstHealth.
