Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a patient care role in the Emergency Department. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care, assisting with basic patient needs and daily living activities under supervision.

A year of ED or related patient care experience and BLS certification are required. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean environment, assisting in ED procedures, and supporting the care team to ensure smooth patient flow and timely interventions.

Qualifications

• At least one year as an Emergency Medical Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant, or one year of patient care experience.
• Must read/write and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under supervision of RN, LPN, Paramedic or physician.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, clean environment in the ED.
• Work with interdisciplinary team to deliver compassionate care to ED patients.

Position Summary

Works with interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality compassionate care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department. Performs activities which assist the patient in meeting basic human needs and activities of daily living, providing basic patient care to patients under the direction of the RN, LPN, Paramedic, mid-level provider, or physician. Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have certification in Basic Life Support upon hire or receive certification within new employee introductory orientation period and maintain clinical competency during employment.
• CPI-Advanced Physical Skills- receive certification within the new employee introductory orientation period and maintain clinical competency during employment.

Experience

• At least one (1) recent year experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant/Certified Nurse Assistant or at least one (1) current year patient care experience.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English and have basic personal computer skills.
• Must be capable of taking swift and efficient action, including patient restraint when responding to patient emergency codes.
