Job summary

Catholic Health's St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, NY is seeking an Emergency Department technician to assist in patient care under RN supervision. The role supports data collection and direct patient care in a busy ED environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, CNA certification or EMT-B or nursing student status with clinical nursing fundamentals, BLS certification, and basic computer literacy. ED experience is preferred and eligibility for staff benefits applies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA training with CNA certification OR EMT-B certification OR nursing student with fundamentals of nursing (clinical rotation).
• Current ED experience preferred.
• BLS from American Heart Association required.
• Must be computer literate and able to read/write basic English.

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate care to assigned patients.
• Performs treatments and procedures per hospital policy.
• Prepares patient environment for receiving patients.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Assists nurse or physician in procedures as necessary.
• Places patients on cardiac monitor as instructed by nursing staff.
• Handles patients' clothing and personal property from admission to discharge.
• Functions appropriately during emergencies and crises.
