Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Emergency Department. The position is Full Time, mid‑shift (3p–3a) with 3×12s schedule. Holidays and weekends are required.

A $20,000 sign‑on bonus is offered for eligible candidates who commit to the night shift for two years. The ED is a 17‑bed unit with a 1:4 nurse‑to‑patient ratio; team includes RNs, CNAs, paramedics, and providers.

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Strong critical‑thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Perform timely and appropriate documentation related to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Perform timely and accurate QI assessments.
