Job summary

St Mary’s Health Care System in Athens, GA seeks a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department to deliver high‑quality patient care within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

The ED is a 25‑bed unit focused on Cardiology and Stroke care; the RN assesses patients, develops and modifies care plans, and performs procedures within established standards, with weekend shifts on Saturdays and Sundays 7a–7p. The role emphasizes patient advocacy and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Georgia.
• Successful completion of a refresher course within the past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years.
• Prior experience in preferred.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department is a 25 bed unit that cares for all patients from infants to geriatrics specializing in Cardiology and Stroke care.
• Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, including developing, evaluating, and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise.
• RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.
• The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame.
• The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards.
