Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families professionally and compassionately.
• Registers patients for emergency services and collects required information.
• Verifies patient identity and insurance details and updates records as needed.
• Obtains signatures on consent forms and explains each consent prior to signing.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collects co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and questions.
• Documents on forms if the patient cannot sign consent; nursing sign-off when needed.
• Verifies insurance and proper plan codes for prompt payment.
• Prepares paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of patient visits.
• Places armband on each patient for proper identification.
• Notifies departments or physicians of patient arrival and follows up if waiting is extended.
• Maintains communication during emergency codes and follows facility plans.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
