Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist/Pharmacy Clinical Specialist for the Emergency Department at Lutheran Hospital. The role focuses on decentralized patient care, rapid pharmacotherapy recommendations, antimicrobial stewardship, and ED liaison work with physicians and nurses.

Responsibilities include medication order review, trauma response, and education of residents and students, with a schedule that includes day/evening rotations and on-call considerations as needed.

Qualifications

  • PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • PGY2 residency or fellowship training preferred; or PGY1 residency plus minimum 2 years in the specialty.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a clinical specialist or equivalent role.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist or eligible within 90 days.
  • Basic Life Support; ACLS/PALS certifications as required for emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify medication orders and provide real-time pharmacotherapy recommendations.
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives and serve as primary pharmacy resource in the Emergency Department.
  • Respond to trauma activations, stroke alerts, cardiac arrests and other emergencies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other care team members to optimize medication therapy.
  • Educate residents and students; participate in quality improvement projects and leadership activities.
