Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist for the Emergency Department on a full-time second-shift schedule (1:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.), 7 on/7 off.

This role covers centralized and decentralized medication-use systems, providing expert pharmacotherapy and drug information across the ED team. The ideal candidate has PharmD preferred, Kentucky license, and 3+ years’ relevant experience, ACLS within 6 months, and BCEMP/BCPS/BCCCP certification within a year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
• Current, active Kentucky pharmacist license.
• Minimum of three years of relevant job-related experience, or completion of a PGY-1 or PGY-2 ASHP-accredited residency in lieu of experience.
• ACLS certification required within six months of hire.
• Board certification (BCEMP, BCPS, or BCCCP) required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, and timely medication therapy for ED patients.
• Deliver clinical pharmacy services via centralized and decentralized medication-use systems.
• Provide verbal and written consultations regarding medication therapy.
• Educate patients and healthcare team on medication therapy.
• Participate in MUEs, adverse event reporting, therapeutic drug monitoring, and drug interaction review.
• Review and verify medication orders for appropriateness and safety.
• Monitor medication regimens according to protocols and standards.
• Serve as ED medication expert for high-acuity therapies and emergency medicines.
• Respond to Code Blues, stroke alerts, trauma activations, and sepsis alerts.
