Job summary

UPMC Northwest is seeking a casual Emergency Department Patient Services Representative to welcome patients, explain billing, collect payments, and assist with insurance verification. You will maintain accurate registrations in the ADT system, support during evenings, weekends, and holidays, and connect patients with financial advocacy resources to ensure a smooth UPMC Experience.

Customer service experience in healthcare settings preferred.
Ability to explain insurance and copayments to patients clearly.
Strong communication and confidentiality in handling patient data.

Responsibilities

Reconcile and maintain First Net ED Tracking Board and Hospital ADT system.
Register patients accurately into ADT/clinical systems during downtime.
Central resource for ADT registration and issue resolution during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Verify insurance eligibility and coordinate benefits for seamless billing.
Counsel patients on insurance coverage and financial liability; collect co-pays and deductibles.
Provide a warm greeting for all patients and uphold UPMC Experience standards.
Follow HIPAA rules and maintain patient confidentiality.
Obtain patient consent and financial responsibility signatures as required.
Remain calm and professional in stressful situations while prioritizing tasks.
Collaborate with clinical partners to ensure open communication and data integrity.
