Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System's Methodist Hospital in Omaha is seeking a Patient Access Professional I to greet patients, verify demographics, verify insurance eligibility, collect payments, and support the registration process in the Emergency Department.

This full-time role requires strong customer service, basic math, computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel), and the ability to multitask with EMTALA guidance. Training and performance opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Experience in customer service, insurance or billing is required.
• Medical terminology knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to open and navigate Outlook, Word and Excel; use a scanner/copier.
• Strong math skills for collections and payments; multitasking ability.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients professionally and register in the Emergency Department.
• Verify demographics, financial data and visit information for accurate records.
• Verify insurance eligibility and perform point-of-service collections per policy.
• Inform patients of financial responsibilities and refer to financial counselors as needed.
• Support lab order entry and assist department with registration compliance.
