Job summary

The Central Texas Health Care System within the Veterans Health Administration is recruiting Nursing Assistants for the Emergency Department in Temple, Texas. The NA will support licensed nursing staff across preventive to hospice care and participate in a team-based care approach.

Eligibility includes a mix of education, training, and experience pathways, English proficiency, and the ability to work in a high-paced ED setting.

Qualifications

• Citizenship requirements and English proficiency must be met.
• Various pathways allow equivalency in education/training to qualify.
• Demonstrated KSAs include nursing care planning, observation, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Function as a member of the nursing care team in the Emergency Department.
• Assist licensed nursing staff in care of patients across care settings.
• Observe patient condition and report deviations to supervisor in a timely manner.
• Document care provided and patient observations in charts or forms.
• May serve as preceptor to other Nursing Assistants and mentor new staff.
