Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Senior Clinical Nurse Manager for the Akron ED to oversee daily operations of high‑complexity units and ensure top‑level patient care. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and maintain 24‑hour accountability for direct care units, linking administrative strategy with bedside practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current Ohio RN license required.
• Current Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience; 3 years of supervisory leadership preferred.
• PEARS if general care; PALS/ACLS/TNCC/NRP if critical care or ED settings; relevant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of high‑complexity units and ensure safe, effective patient care.
• Manage unit financial operations, including budgeting and revenue oversight.
• Lead HR activities: hiring, coaching, performance management for staff.
• Drive performance improvement focused on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Guide integration of technology into patient care and nursing practice.
• Lead strategic initiatives and change management to align unit goals with organizational strategy.
• Develop and implement staff development and retention strategies to boost workforce engagement.
• Promote diversity in staffing and patient care settings.
• Demonstrate accountability in all responsibilities and act as a liaison between administration and patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
