Job summary

The Head Nurse for Emergency Services at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens leads nursing care for adult patients in the emergency department, supervising staff and guiding clinical practice.

Responsibilities include developing and evaluating care regimens, coordinating with the health team, and ensuring compliance with NY state nursing standards. NY RN license required; prior Head Nurse experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Head Nurse preferred.
• Current New York State RN License required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing regimens for patients.
• Identify and discriminate between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
• Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate nursing regimens for assigned patients.
• Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes to ensure continuity of care.
• Interpret and report patient responses to appropriate health team members.
• Participate with interdisciplinary health team members to plan comprehensive patient care programs.
• Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to allied nursing personnel.
• Participate in defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice.
• Conduct conferences to develop nursing care plans and promote staff development.
• Maintain professional competence through continuing education and learning experiences.
