Job summary

Baystate Health’s Emergency Department is seeking an experienced ED Medic to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting in Springfield, MA. The role includes direct patient care, vital signs monitoring, phlebotomy, and assisting with procedures and exams.

The position requires EMT-Paramedic experience with ACLS/BLS credentials, strong teamwork, and a focus on throughput and patient safety in emergencies. This is a part-time role supporting the ED team on site.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET is required for consideration.
• EMT-paramedic credential with ACLS/BLS is preferred.
• Experience with vital signs, patient assessment, and EKG monitoring is essential.

Responsibilities

• Measures and records vital signs within the required time frame.
• Administers treatments and assists with exams and procedures.
• Labels and sends specimens promptly for lab testing.
• Performs point-of-care testing (I-STAT, Urinalysis, Glucose, Pregnancy, Covid).
• Assists with assessment and treatment under RN/Provider orders.
• Communicates clearly with care team and patients to support throughput.
• Initiates emergency procedures and maintains patient safety.
• Works as part of the ED team and supports patient flow initiatives.
