Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks an LPN for Night shift in the Emergency Department to provide direct nursing care under supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role requires current North Carolina LPN licensure or compact state licensure and at least 1 year of critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and ensuring patient safety.

Qualifications

• Education and Formal Training: High school graduate or equivalent required
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
• Work Experience: Must have at least 1 year of critical care experience preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Verbal and written skills required
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served
• Physical Requirements: Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
• Physical Requirements: Visual acuity for observation of patients
• Physical Requirements: Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• Physical Requirements: May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 35 pounds
• Required Licenses and Certifications: BLS - American Heart Association
• Required Licenses and Certifications: RN - Board Of Nursing

Responsibilities

• Participates in assessment of patient
• Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
• Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
• Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
• Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
• Administers medication as ordered by physician
• Facilitates a safe environment
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
• Maintains required competencies
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
• Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
• Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
• Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
• Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
• Other duties as assigned
