Job summary

Newberry Health is seeking an Emergency Department Director to join our community-focused team in Newberry County, SC. The director provides operational, clinical, and administrative leadership for the ED, maintains competency through regular clinical shifts, and reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications include ADN, BSN preferred, 3–5 years in acute care, at least 2 years in ED, and experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or business administration preferred.
• Three to five years in an acute care setting and at least 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department.
• Previous leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement preferred.

Job Summary

The Director of the Emergency Department provides operational, clinical, and administrative leadership for the Emergency Department while maintaining competency through regular clinical shifts. This position is responsible for promoting high-quality, safe, patient-centered care through effective leadership, performance improvement initiatives, staff development, regulatory compliance, and operational oversight. The position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and serves as a key member of the nursing leadership team.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or business administration preferred.
• Three to five years in an acute care setting and at least 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department.
• Previous leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred
