Job summary

Phelps Health in Rolla, MO is seeking an Emergency Department Technician – Level 1 to perform direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Services and Shift Manager. Responsibilities include vital signs, 12-lead EKGs, specimen collection, and ADL assistance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of direct patient caregiving experience preferred.
• BLS certification required per policy.
• CEVO certification or completion within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care including vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, ADL support and basic wound care.
• Performs indirect care such as transport, inventory, room cleaning, and charting support.
• May serve as ED Lead Tech to coordinate tasks and direct staff when needed.
• Communicates with patients and families using de-escalation techniques and shares updates with the healthcare team.
• Documents information timely into the patient’s electronic health record and participates in education and quality activities.
