Job summary

WVU Health System's JMC Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV seeks an Emergency Department Associate for 7a-7p in the JMC Emergency Department. Under supervision of a registered nurse or licensed provider, you will support patient care and assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and communications.

Requires a High School Diploma and BLS within 30 days; preferred WV EMT/Paramedic licensure and ACLS/PALS certifications; two years college or ED/pre-hospital experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and Basic Life Support certification required.
• Two years of college in nursing, biology, physical therapy, sports medicine, or related field OR two years’ ED/pre-hospital experience preferred.
• EV or licensure in WV EMT/Paramedic or applicable state licensure preferred; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes to RN immediately.
• Assists RN with admissions, transfers, discharges and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and monitors intake/output; assists in personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Assists in specimen collection and other patient-related activities.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Performs routine tests (glucose, urine, stool) and maintains quality control logs.
