Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and BLS certification within 30 days of hire; preferred credentials include EMT/Paramedic licensure, ACLS, and PALS.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: WV EMT/Paramedic license or state licensure where services will be performed.
• Preferred: ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Two years of college in nursing, biology, physical therapy, sports medicine, or related field, or two years’ Emergency Department/pre-hospital experience.

Aufgaben

• Observes and reports patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care tasks.
• Records vital signs and assists in personal hygiene and comfort measures; monitors intake/output.
• Assists in specimen collection and activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and protect patients, visitors, and staff.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates Nutrition-related issues to the RN.
• Assists with department administrative tasks and answers patient call bells.
• Performs tests such as glucose monitoring and urine/stool testing and maintains quality control logs.
• Discontinues IVs per policy; assists with drainage devices; can perform EKG testing.
• Transports specimens to the lab and collects blood samples as ordered by physician.
