Job summary

St. Joseph's Health in New Jersey is seeking a patient care assistant to support the Emergency Department team.

You will perform delegated functions including STAT specimen requests, patient transport, and discharge to designated areas, while using the hospital EMR for entry, admission, transfer and discharge tasks. You will assist acutely ill patients with daily living activities, ensure proper patient attire and valuables logging, and help maintain a safe and clean environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform STAT requests for specimens and patients.
• Discharge patients to designated areas and transport to dedicated areas as needed.
• Utilize EMR for order entry, admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide basic care to acutely ill patients.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment; assist with observations as directed by RN.
• Record vitals and monitor patients with CM, NIBP and SPO2 as needed.
• Scan items into EMR promptly and update Sorian.
• Answer phones professionally and in a timely manner.
