Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department. This RN leader will supervise day-to-day nursing operations, promote evidence-based patient care, and guide staff through competency development and performance improvement initiatives.

The role reports to the Emergency Department Nurse Manager and emphasizes staffing coordination, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in nursing required.
• 3+ years of clinical nursing experience in Emergency Services.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships to promote teamwork and high quality patient care.
• Participates in hospital committees and unit staff meetings; distributes minutes.
• Implements Quality and Performance Improvement Plan and reports findings.
• Models leadership and promotes professionalism to develop staff in priority setting, teamwork and organizational skills.
• Facilitates patient progress and coordinates resources across the care system.
• Assists with scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Holds staff accountable; conducts evaluations and rounds on patients.
• Supports staff education and annual learning needs assessment.
• Orientation for Registry/Travel personnel and EMR familiarity.
• Promotes safety and compliance with hospital procedures.
