Qualifications

Responsibilities

Position Overview

This role is responsible for providing hands-on nursing care to emergency, hospitalized, and critically ill patients. This role works closely with emergency doctors, boarded criticalists, specialists, and nursing leadership to ensure patients receive timely, compassionate, and medically appropriate care throughout every stage of hospitalization.Technicians in this role may assist with emergency triage, patient stabilization, advanced nursing care, ICU monitoring, treatments, diagnostics, procedures, anesthesia support, client communication, and detailed medical documentation. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced clinical environment, values collaboration, and wants to continue building advanced ECC nursing skills .

It is not your average trip into work, and that is just the beginning.

Forgot your coffee or breakfast on the way in? No problem. Our team enjoys access to a fully stocked breakfast bar along with free snacks available on site for staff, helping you start the day fueled and ready. Once your shift begins, you will step into a fast-paced, team-centered hospital environment where your skills truly matter. A typical day may include receiving hospitalized patients, reviewing treatment plans, assisting with emergency triage, monitoring critical cases, administering medications, performing diagnostics, supporting procedures, and communicating closely with doctors and team members to ensure continuity of care.

Throughout the day, you may place or maintain IV catheters, monitor patients on CRIs, assist with transfusions, collect and process lab samples, perform nursing assessments, support CPCR efforts, prepare patients for emergency procedures, and provide detailed handoffs to ensure every patient receives consistent care from shift to shift.This role is ideal for a technician who thrives on precision, values teamwork, and takes pride in advocating for patients at every stage of care. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and assist in advanced nursing care for hospitalized, emergency, and critical patients
  • Administer medications via multiple routes, including IV, IM, SQ, and PO
  • Monitor and assess patient vitals, including blood pressure, ECG, temperature, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, and pain scores
  • Set up and monitor IV fluids, CRIs, syringe pumps, and multi-port line systems
  • Perform fluid therapy calculations, medication calculations, and medical math accurately
  • Conduct phlebotomy, sample collection, lab sample handling, and basic hematology procedures
  • Assist with emergency triage, patient stabilization, trauma care, and unstable patient management
  • Prepare and monitor patients for emergency surgeries, procedures, sedation, or anesthesia
  • Administer and monitor transfusion therapy, including blood typing and cross-matching
  • Maintain feeding tubes, urinary catheters, bandages, splints, and wound care plans as needed
  • Provide nursing care for dogs, cats, and exotic species
  • Support CPCR efforts and emergency stabilization procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical records, treatment logs, controlled drug documentation, and invoicing
  • Communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, teammates, and clients regarding patient care, updates, discharges, and treatment plans
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment
  • Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, skill development opportunities, in teaching and training of students and coworkers when applicable
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of advanced inpatient, ICU, or emergency veterinary care experience preferred for higher-level technician roles
  • CVT, LVT, RVT, or VTS/ECC preferred or encouraged
  • All technician levels are encouraged to apply, including technicians looking to grow into emergency and critical care
  • Experience in high-volume, multi-doctor, emergency, or specialty hospitals preferred
  • Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency or interest in developing advanced nursing skills, patient monitoring, emergency procedures, and ICU care
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to compassionate patient and client care
  • Comfortable working with dogs, cats, and exotic species
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in high-stress or rapidly changing situations
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
  • Team-oriented mindset with a desire to learn, teach, and contribute to a positive hospital culture
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
