Job summary

Colorado State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Fort Collins seeks a Veterinary Technician to provide critical care for small animals and exotics. You will perform advanced procedures, monitor patients, and collaborate with students and clinicians to deliver high-quality care.

Eligible candidates must be a graduate of an accredited veterinary technician program and be registered as VT or PVT with DORA. The role requires shift work and on-site service at CSU.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited veterinary technician program with >2 years’ experience.
• Registered VT or Provisional VT through DORA.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing for small animals and exotics.
• Perform advanced procedures: venous/arterial/urinary catheterization, fluid, drugs, blood sampling, diagnostic monitoring, emergency anesthesia, thoracocentesis, CPR.
• Assess therapy response and adjust treatment plans per protocols.
• Collaborate with students, interns, residents, clinicians, and clients to support diagnosis and care.
• Provide instruction, mentoring, and training to students and staff; orient new personnel.
• Communicate with clients and referring veterinarians for history, updates, and coordinated care.
• Organize and direct unit activities during shifts, ensuring timely treatments and documentation.
