Job summary

CSU Veterinary Health in Fort Collins, CO seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician to join the Emergency and Critical Care Service. You will contribute to high-level triage, advanced therapies, and critical patient management in a teaching hospital setting.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship of students and staff, rigorous safety and biosecurity practices, and seamless coordination across departments. CACVT registration and DORA compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited veterinary technician program with greater than 3 years’ experience in veterinary emergency medicine (or 4+ years via substitutions).
• Transcript or diploma must be attached to demonstrate graduation from the vet tech program.
• CACVT registration and DORA registration as required by Colorado regulations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate clear, compassionate communication with clients and referring veterinarians; ensure accurate diagnostics and treatment planning.
• Serve as shift/unit lead, directing case flow and upholding safety standards including isolation and biosecurity.
• Perform advanced clinical procedures, including catheter placement, diagnostic sampling, and rapid triage for shock or critical conditions.
• Provide training and mentorship in emergency and critical care principles to students and staff.
• Assist in equipment maintenance, policy updates, and workflow improvements across ECC.
