Job summary

The City of Oxnard’s Police Department seeks a Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor with strong leadership skills to join the team. The successful incumbent will train and supervise lower-level Public Safety Dispatcher positions and perform related duties as assigned.

The role requires prior dispatch experience and the ability to manage complex emergencies, shift work, and policy compliance. A POST supervisory certificate and valid California driver’s license are required within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associates of Arts/Science degree or the completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in the full array of duties assigned to Public Safety Dispatcher series.
• Receives, records and assigns call types and prioritizes incoming calls for law enforcement, fire, medical, emergency and other department services.
• Dispatches units based on call type, resources, area and location; monitors unit status.
