Job summary

West Chester Township Emergency Communications Department is seeking an Emergency Communications Officer (911 Dispatcher) to provide life-saving information and rapid dispatch. You will handle emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate with Police, Fire and EMS using CAD, and maintain calm under pressure.

The position requires rotating shifts including nights and weekends. The pay rate is $28.20 per hour, with experience considered for rate.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Communications/911 dispatch experience.

Responsibilities

• Process emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatches Police, Fire and EMS using computer aided dispatch technology.
• Communicate information clearly to co-workers and the public; provide information and assistance daily.

Emergency Communications Officer (911 Dispatcher)

West Chester Township Emergency Communications Department is accepting applications for the position of Communications Officer (Dispatcher). Candidate must have the ability to communicate well, verbally and in writing for the purpose of providing information and assistance to co-workers and the public on a daily basis. Communication Officers process emergency and non-emergency calls for service and dispatches Police, Fire and EMS using computer aided dispatch technology. You must be able to work rotating shifts, nights, holidays and weekends; this is a stressful, demanding, fast paced job involving life and death situations.

The pay rate for this position is $28.20 per hour. Experience may be considered for rate.

The selection process includes: pre-interview testing, panel interview, polygraph, background check, and drug screen.
