Job summary

County of Sacramento is seeking Communications/Operations Dispatchers to receive and dispatch emergency and non-emergency requests, coordinating with medical, fire, law enforcement and other units. Positions are structured as Level I (entry) and Level II (journey), with potential for advancement after demonstrated proficiency.

Level II – Range B may designate shift leaders who oversee others, plan schedules and ensure proper operation of dispatch functions.

Qualifications

• six months of full-time paid experience using a computer and customer contact (phone/in person) or equivalent
• six months of full-time experience in radio dispatching, call directing, or operating communication equipment with public contact

Responsibilities

• Receive, evaluate and respond to requests for emergency and non-emergency services.
• Dispatch to field units and route calls to appropriate bureau or detail.
• Perform duties at Level I with close supervision and progress to Level II as skills grow.
• Leadworker duties may apply for Level II - Range B assignment.
