Job summary

The City of Midwest City is seeking a Communication Specialist I in the Emergency Communications Department. The incumbent receives, analyzes, and dispatches messages to radio-equipped units of Police, Fire and Ambulance, and monitors alarms.

HS graduate or equivalent with prior experience operating a two-way radio and a computer terminal; OLETS certification preferred. Must pass a data entry test (min. 5500 keystrokes/hr) and pass background checks. Starting salary is $24.2841-$25.7130/hr.

• HS diploma or equivalent with prior two-way radio operation experience.
• Experience operating a computer terminal with OLETS certification preferred.
• Must pass data entry test (min. 5500 keystrokes/hr) and undergo background checks.

Responsibilities

• Receives, analyzes, and dispatches messages to radio-equipped units of Police, Fire & Ambulance departments.
• Monitors burglar and fire alarms and coordinates responses as needed.
