Job summary

The Town of Hartford, Vermont, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Emergency Communications Specialist in the Hartford Police Department. You will handle 911 and business calls, dispatch emergency responders, and learn to use computer-based dispatch systems with training to become EMD and NG911 certified.

This position includes evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays with optional overtime. Starting pay is $25.28 per hour during training, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• National Dispatcher Selection Test.
• Typing skills assessment.
• Panel interview.
• Background, character, and criminal history investigation.
• Drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Answer business and 911 emergency calls.
• Dispatch police, fire, EMS or other emergency responders.
• Familiarize with computer-based dispatching systems.
