Job summary

County Of Humboldt is seeking an Emergency Communications Dispatcher to handle 911 and non-emergency calls, dispatch deputies and ambulances, and operate radio, computer, and teletype systems. The role requires strict confidentiality and the ability to multitask under pressure.

Candidates must pass a detailed background check, be available for evening/night/weekend shifts, and meet POST standards as part of the selection process. Training will cover county procedures and equipment usage.

Qualifications

• Two years of public contact including emergency dispatching experience.
• Must pass a detailed background investigation.
• Evening, night and weekend shifts required.
• Must meet POST standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive and analyze 911 and sheriff emergency and business calls and dispatch to appropriate units.
• Determine proper jurisdiction and staff to be dispatched.
• Dispatch sheriff units, ambulances or other staff and equipment to emergencies.
• Operate computer consoles and teletype systems and maintain records.
