Job summary

City of Daphne, Alabama is seeking a Police Communications Dispatcher to respond to calls, dispatch police units, and maintain contact with agencies. This role requires discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism in managing both emergency and non-emergency scenarios.

You will enter data into CAD and NCIC/ACJIC, monitor security cameras, and support other divisions as needed. Excellent communication and calm under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 4 months training/experience in radio communications.
• Valid Alabama driver's license.
• NCIC Terminal Operator certification (or ability to obtain).
• APCO certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch police units.
• Enter call data into CAD and NCIC/ACJIC systems, maintaining accuracy.
• Relay and record updated information to relevant parties for priority responses.
• Notify supervisor of emergencies and serious incidents.
• Operate reception and switchboard functions when needed.
• Monitor camera system for security of staff and prisoners.
• Assist other divisions when not actively responding.
• Perform duties as assigned.
