Job summary

The City of Coffeyville is seeking a police dispatch position to provide emergency and general public service while ensuring officer safety. You will receive and dispatch calls for police, fire and EMS, maintain unit status and logs, and assist the public with Department policies and procedures.

The role requires handling high-stress situations, accurate data entry, and coordination with multiple agencies. A twelfth-grade equivalency and appropriate certifications are required, with a preference

Qualifications

• Prior responsible police dispatch experience is preferred but not required.
• Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate NCIC terminal operators permit.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain Emergency Fire Dispatch Certificate.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain IPAWS Certification.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain NIMS 100 & 700 Certification.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency service calls and determine priority; dispatch units.
• Maintain contact with all units on assignment using a two-way radio and log field calls.
• Assist the public in person and by phone with Department policies and procedures.
• Input and retrieve information on a city computer network; process inquiries.
• Monitor alarms, weather alerts, and teletype; notify personnel as needed.
• Prepare supplemental reports as assigned.
• Perform matron duties as needed.
• Attend professional group meetings; participate in special projects.
