Job summary

City of Wilmer is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to receive and route emergency requests for police, fire, and EMS. You will handle E911 and radio communications, document activity in CAD, and assist responders in high-stress situations.

The role requires accuracy, calm under pressure, and the ability to work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Training is provided; you will complete internal certifications and may participate in court testimony as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR and IAED EMD certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• TCOLE Basic Telecommunicator Proficiency Certificate or TX Telecommunicator License required or obtainable within one year.
• Must pass background checks and drug screening.
• Type at least 40 wpm with 80% accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Answer multi-line telephones including E911 lines.
• Operate a multi-channel public safety radio system.
• Process requests for police, fire, and medical services in CAD or manual logs.
• Prepare incident and supplementary reports.
• Attend criminal and civil courts when summoned.
