Job summary

Advocate Health in Milwaukee is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support physicians and nurses in the Emergency Department. The role includes phlebotomy, patient transport, monitoring, wound care and lab specimen collection.

Requires a HS diploma, typical 1 year experience, and licensure options such as CNA/EMT; 0.9 FTE, day shift 0700–1930 with weekend rotation. Benefits eligible and hospital certifications encouraged.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and ability to work with Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients and their families.
• Must maintain skill and recertification as required by regulation and organization.
• Ability to effectively manage time and priorities.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Certification Addendum and hospital-based certifications (DNV, CARF or others) must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and registered nurses with technical patient care tasks (phlebotomy, transport, monitors, wound care, Foley catheters, labs).
• Documents procedures and communicates observations to the RN.
• Processes daily patient charges and notes in EHR.
• Coordinates communications to facilitate patient care among teams.
• Maintains a safe, clean work environment and handles equipment appropriately.
