Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Aide to support assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care under RN supervision. The role covers pre-adolescents to geriatrics with age-appropriate activities aligned to care plans, promoting safety and comfort within the unit.

Responsibilities include direct and indirect care, vital signs, de-escalation, and collaborative teamwork. Requires a social services degree and BCLS; favorable internship and state-practice

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in a social services related field.
• 1 year experience working with people with mental health symptoms or related applicable experience.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
• Successful behavioral health internship as part of a degree program within 1 year of hire.
• Qualifies as a Mental Health Practitioner according to MN Statute 245.462, Subdivision 17.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with nutritional needs.
• Provide comfort care and other assistance to patients.
• Safely transfer patients and take vital signs.
• Report changes in patient condition to the RN promptly.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to promote healing.
• Facilitate activities and groups as assigned by psychotherapy and nursing leaders.
