Job summary

UHS is seeking an experienced RN for Emergency Services admissions to conduct RN-to-RN screenings by reviewing patient histories, labs, and other clinical documentation to determine medical appropriateness for admission. You will respond to service inquiries and coordinate with physicians for orders and clearance.

Responsibilities include directing the admission process, triaging patients, arranging transfers when higher levels of care are necessary, and maintaining comprehensive records.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates Degree or BSN in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Experience: 1+ year in inpatient mental health preferred; strong med-surg nursing and/or medical clearance experience.
• Licensure/Certification: IL Registered Nurse licensure or higher.

Responsibilities

• Focuses on RN-to-RN screenings and reviews H&P, labs, and other clinical docs for admission.
• Oversees admission process including appropriateness, screenings, orders, and paperwork.
• Communicates with physicians for admission orders and medical clearance as needed.
• Maintains admission data/records and ensures compliance with EMTALA and related regulations.
• Triages patients and coordinates transfers when higher-level care is required.
• Provides first aid and medical care as needed; explains hospital programs and services.
