Job summary

ESN seeks an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Engineer for on-site work at the Washington Navy Yard, DC. The role supports NAVSEA E3 initiatives for Nimitz and Ford class carriers, providing technical risk assessment and engineering-related guidance.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s in Engineering (Electrical preferred), have 3+ years Navy-related experience, strong writing skills, and U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Bachelor's degree and 3 years’ experience with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine.
  • Engineer with degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience with US Navy vessels (preferably nuclear powered ships).
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • An active Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the program primary expert in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects for carrier systems.
  • Provide technical support and assess risk for NAVSEA SDMs and SEMs.
  • Perform engineering research and problem resolution using carrier operational experience.
  • Prepare responses to technical requests and change notices.
  • Coordinate with engineering authorities and shipyards to resolve technical matters.
  • Review technical data, drawings, and reports to provide recommendations.
  • Develop formal presentations for senior officials.
  • Review ship specifications and propose changes.
