Job summary

AMEWAS is seeking an Engineering Technician (EMC)-Junior to support EMI/EMC testing for DoD programs at Pax River, MD. The role requires on-site work and knowledge of EMC standards, with a DoD Secret clearance on onboarding.

You will operate test equipment, validate SUTs, and help generate comprehensive test documentation while collaborating with engineers to resolve issues and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent with technical school or military training in troubleshooting/testing electronic equipment may qualify.
  • 1 year of experience conducting electronics test and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, receivers, antennas, amplifiers, multi-meters, etc.).
  • Experience reading and understanding schematics and technical manuals.
  • The ability to create, read, and understand test plans.
  • Experience working around aircraft and avionics.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC principals.
  • Proficiency in Windows OS and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint).
  • Current clearance required upon onboarding: DoD Secret Clearance
  • Additional Accesses: DoD security clearance eligibility requirements; U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an Engineering Technician (EMC) in the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) group supporting the EMC team.
  • Verifies compliance of products and systems with EMI/EMC standards.
  • Performs EMI/EMC testing on aerospace systems and components.
  • Uses spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and related test equipment.
  • Conducts pre-test inspections and collaborates with engineers to troubleshoot issues.
  • Generates test plans, procedures and reports per MIL-STD-461.
  • Verifies SUT operation with customers and defines failure criteria.
  • Ensures calibration/operation of test equipment and records results.
  • Develops test documentation (plans, procedures, reports).
